MK Festival Fringe 2018 launches its programme with a night of underground music from a selection of MK based or affiliated artists.
This event will also include a presentation of works from Vol. 2 of Hekate Mag – a self-published zine of works by female artists, writers, and creatives founded by Ciara Callaghan and Arizona Smith.
Godspeed you! Peter Andre
Godspeed you! Peter Andre are a new gothic duo set to collide the world of pop royalty with deep dark witch music. Magic realms built by Kaskie (Death of Money / SVNTREADER) & Emma Thompson (Water / Fat Out).
‘Their gigs are a feast of dark rhythms dug up from cemeteries where there was no good digging in the first place.’
Bamya are an Glasgow based three piece who play loose, post-punk/world influenced music. Last seen in MK supporting the legendary Xylouris White.
Secret Flight is a melody-driven electronic music project influenced strongly by Soviet film soundtracks and 80s British indie-pop.
Calluna / Heather Britton – Performing ‘Prodrome’, a sample track from Cephalea; a multimedia journey through migraine.
Cephalea is a polymorphous multi-part portfolio of music whereby each heterogeneous movement depicts the sonic world of each stage of a migraine: Aura, Prodrome, Attack, Postdrome concluding with a piece that explores broader and more political perspectives on the subject: A Cure. Cephalea looks closely at the relationship between body and sound and is holistic and cathartic in nature.
Calluna is the creative efforts of Heather Britton, brought to life by her band of collaborators. Calluna brings the raw attack of soaring vocals, chiming angular guitar and euphoric synth resulting in a carnal, emotive live set. Calluna released their debut single ‘Calm Inside’ in April 2018, accompanied by a self-directed music video.
